Saba Qamar is a Pakistani actress, model and television anchor. She is one of the most popular and highest paid actresses in Pakistan. She is known for her roles as Ruqsana Inayat in the Pakistani television show Jinnah Ke Naam (2009) and Meeta Batra in the Bollywood film Hindi Medium (2017).

Saba Qamar made her Hollywood debut with Manto (2015), a biographical drama based on Pakistani author Sadat Hassan Manto . Saba plays the role of Pakistani playback singer and actor Noor Jehan in the film. The film did not receive a good response, but Saba’s role as Noor Jehan was loved by the audience and she was nominated for the ARY Film Award for Best Supporting Actress. Later, the film was adapted into a TV series “Main Manto” with the same actors in 2017 and broadcast on Geo TV.

In 2016, Saba starred in Lahore Se Aagey (2016), a travel romantic comedy film directed by Wajahat Rauf. Kamal plays rock star Tara Ahmed opposite Yasser Hussain. That same year, the film became one of the highest-grossing films of all time in Pakistan.

Arrest warrant issued for Saba Kamal
In April 2021, Saba Qamar and others were arrested for filming a dance video at a historic mosque in Lahore. The warrant was issued because she failed to show up for a court hearing in the 2020 case.

In 2020, a case was registered under Section 295 of the Pakistan Penal Code for alleged “desecration” of the Wazir Khan Mosque. The case was filed against Pakistani singers and music producers Saba Qamar and Bilal Saeed for filming a music video in a mosque. Both Saba Qamar and Bilal Saeed received a lot of criticism and received many death threats for this, for which they publicly apologized. Saba said,
This is a music video featuring a Nikah (marriage) scene. It was neither filmed with any type of playing music nor edited into a music track. “
The court canceled the arrest warrant and ordered a bond of Rs. 30,000 and ordered both the accused to appear before the court in person. On May 9, 2022, both Saba Kamal and Bilal Saeed were acquitted.
