Sam Asghari Says Britney Spears Calling Him a ‘Gift from God’ in Her Memoir Made Him ‘Smile’

Sam Asghari is showing support for his estranged wife Britney Spears amid the release of her memoir.

TMZ caught up with the actor, 29, while in Los Angeles on Thursday to ask what he thought of the pop icon who called him a “gift from God” in her book. The woman in mewhich was published on Tuesday.

The Iranian-American performer had nothing but nice things to say about his wife of 14 months. “It made me laugh, to be honest,” said the model.

Asghari also praised Spears’ best-selling memoir, which chronicles her journey to superstardom and the 13 years she spent in a conservatory. “I’m fucking proud of her,” he told TMZ. “I hope they take over the world.”

The Special operations: Lioness star filed for divorce from the Grammy winner in August. The couple originally met on the set of her “Slumber Party” music video in 2016, got engaged in September 2021 and married in March 2022.

As The woman in me was published just over two months after they filed for divorce, the end of her and Asghari’s marriage is not covered in the book. The star primarily writes about meeting the model/actor and their current chemistry.

“I appreciate how stable he is,” Spears added in the book. “I love that he doesn’t drink. He’s a godsend.”

Before they tied the knot, Asghari supported the “Hold Me Closer” singer as she underwent mental health treatment in 2019 and was in the middle of a custody battle in 2021.

After Spears gave public testimony in June 2021 demanding that her father, Jamie Spears, be removed as her guardian, a source told PEOPLE what a support system her then-boyfriend has become. “Sam has been Britney’s rock for years. He makes sure she eats well and exercises,” they said. “She relies on him for everything. He also works and has his own life, but he’s there as much as he can.”

The woman in me was published by Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon and Schuster, on October 24, two years after her care ended in November 2021.

Shortly after the book hit shelves on Tuesday, the hitmaker took to social media to thank her fans for her success.

“It’s happening ✨🤓📖 !!! My book is the best selling celebrity memoir in history and it’s only day one!!!” she wrote in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter). “Thank you to the fans who were so supportive!!! I love you all 🌹!!! #TheWomanInMe @gallerybooks @simonandschuster.”
