On 20 August 1992, he started working as a partner and regional executive creative director at VMLY&R, Dubai, and worked there till 30 March 2006. Later, on 7 January 2013, he joined Rediffusion Y&R, Mumbai as vice chairman and chief creative officer. In 2014, he resigned from Rediffusion Y&R. Later, he started a film and photography company, Studio Central. He also runs a production company, Bombay Matinee Films. In 2016, he directed a Hindi song titled Befikra, which was sung by Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani.
Later, in 2016, he also directed the song Gal Ban Gayi starring Urvashi Rautela and Vidyut Jammwal. In the same year, he produced and directed the Bollywood film King of the Ring starring Akshay Kumar. He has also directed several television commercials for well-known brands such as Sparx, Shyam Steel, Oppo and Amazon.

- Sam Bombay was arrested in Goa on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, after his wife Poonam Pandey filed a complaint against him late on Monday night, claiming that he had molested, threatened and assaulted her. The incident took place in Canacona village in south Goa, where Pondey is currently shooting for her new film. Police said Poonam Pandey will be allowed to undergo some mandatory medical tests
- On November 9, 2021, the Mumbai Police arrested him after Poonam Pandey complained that he had assaulted her. After Sam’s arrest, the Mumbai Police released a statement which reads as follows:
A case has been filed against Sam Bombay under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The actress suffered severe injuries to her head, eyes and face.”
- In February 2024, Sam Pandey and Poonam Pandey faced a Rs 100 crore defamation suit from an individual named Faizan Ansari, who also filed an FIR in Kanpur, for spreading fake death news to create awareness about cervical cancer.
