Samuel L. Jackson and Wife LaTanya Richardson Jackson Have Sweet Date Night at Elizabeth Taylor Ball

Samuel L. Jackson and his wife LaTanya Richardson Jackson had a sweet date at the Elizabeth Taylor Ball to End AIDS Gala held in Beverly Hills.

The longtime couple looked dapper on the red carpet on Thursday with Samuel in a navy blue suit and LaTanya in a colorful white, black and yellow printed dress as they gathered with friends to honor Magic Johnson who received the Elizabeth Taylor Lifetime Achievement Award against AIDS.

Angela Bassett and her husband, Courtney B. Vance hosted the evening and presented the award to Johnson. Other stars who attended supported the action The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kathy Hilton and Dancing with the Stars pro Gleb Savchenko.

In June, Samuel, 74, and LaTanya attended the 76th annual Tony Awards, where the actor was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play for August Wilson’s The Piano Lessonto which he was referred by LaTanya, 73.

Together they went out on the red carpet for the premiere of Samuel’s film Secret invasion. Jackson wrote on his Instagram: “Oh last night! On the Marvel red carpet with Ms. @ltjackson_ ‼️”

The couple, who met in college, have been married for 43 years and share one daughter, Zoe, who is an Emmy-winning reality TV producer.

For their anniversary in August, LaTanya took to her Instagram to share a photo of a table full of gifts for each other, a large bouquet of flowers and even a handwritten card with each other’s names. Along with the photo, she wrote: “HAPPY ANNIVERSARY DEAR♥️🙏🏾💋”

LaTanya shared with PEOPLE that the secret to the couple’s longevity isn’t just their love for each other. They also made a pact to stay together no matter what.

“In the beginning, we always said that the most revolutionary thing that black people can do is to stay together, raise their children with the nucleus of having a father and a mother, because everyone likes to pretend that’s not the African-American family dynamic,” she told PEOPLE. “That only women raise children here, which we know is a lie,” LaTanya said. “To change that narrative, we made the decision to say, ‘We’re going to stick together no matter what. We’re going to figure it out.'”
