Sarah Michelle Gellar and Patrick Dempsey are ready to take over the world Dexter.
Two actors, who should appear in the prequel series Dexter: Original Sinteased their new TV series in an Instagram post shared by Gellar on Monday, September 16. The fun selfie features Gellar and Dempsey in costume.
The Grey’s Anatomy alum, 58, stars in Showtime’s Paramount+ as Capt. Aaron Spencer of the Miami Metro Homicide Squad. Meanwhile, Buffy the Vampire Slayer star, 47, has a special guest role as Tanya Martin, a CSI supervisor at a Miami Metro police station and Dexter’s new boss at the forensics internship.
“The crossover you didn’t know you needed (#McBuff?!?),” Gellar captioned the post, referencing their past hit shows.
Gellar played Buffy Summers, a teenage vampire slayer Buffywhich ran for seven seasons from 1997 to 2003. Dempsey played Dr. Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd for the show’s first 11 seasons Grey’s Anatomyfrom 2005 to 2015.

Several fans called out the duo’s appearance in the Scream franchise. “I would say scream 2 is meeting scream 3 ♥︎,” one user commented. Gellar played Cici Cooper in scream 2 (1997), while Dempsey played Detective Mark Kincaid in scream 3 (2000).
Dexter: Original Sin also stars Patrick Gibson as Dexter Morgan and Christian Slater as his father Harry.
PEOPLE previously reported in June that the casting of Gellar, Slater and Dempsey was a deliberate decision by network executives to help “capture” the 1990s era in which the show is set. They chose actors who appeared in landmark projects during that decade and who continue to be stars today.

The upcoming prequel series will follow the iconic character as he “transitions from college student to avenging serial killer.”
“When his bloodthirsty urges can no longer be ignored, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness,” reads the synopsis. “With his father’s guidance, Harry adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without getting on the radar of law enforcement. This is a special challenge for young Dexter as he begins his forensics internship with the Miami Police Department.”
