Satwiksairaj once skipped school to play badminton with his father, and that’s when he became interested in badminton. At the age of 6, Satwiksairaj started practicing badminton at the Officers Club in Amalapuram, where he and his elder brother were trained by their father. Satwiksairaj participated in various club events and state level tournaments under the guidance of his father. At the age of 11, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy won his first U-13 regional level championship in the boys’ doubles event in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh. Later in 2014, Satwiksairaj joined Prela Gopichand Badminton Academy in Hyderabad and trained under the guidance of national team coach Prela Gopichand. Satwiksairaj competed in singles and doubles under the guidance of coach Gopichand and won medals in various national and international competitions. Satwiksairaj won his first U-17 men’s doubles international gold medal at the 2015 Asian Junior Badminton Championships with his doubles partner Krishna Prasad. In the same year, he also won his first senior international title at the 2015 Tata India International Open with mixed doubles partner Kulapally Manisha.

Next, Rankireddy participated in the International Challenge Series of the 2016 Mauritius International Series, India International Series, India Tata International Open and Bangladesh International Series, winning 4 doubles titles and 3 mixed doubles titles. The dynamic duo of Rankireddy and Shetty made their debut at the 82nd National Senior Badminton Championships in Pune (2017), finishing as doubles runners-up.
