Saurabh Dwivedi is a renowned Indian journalist and the founding editor of The Lallantop, a Hindi news and media web portal under the India Today Group. Before starting The Lallantop in 2016, he had worked with Star News, Live India, Times Group, Nav Bharat Times, Dainik Bhaskar and India Today.

Saurabh Dwivedi was born on Friday, April 22, 1983 (37 years old in 2020) in Chamari village in Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh. His star sign is Taurus.
He started school at Saraswati Shishu Mandir in Olai, a branch of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), and studied there till 1993.
In 1993, his parents sent him to Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Sanatan Dharma Vidyalaya, a boarding school in Kanpur, from which he passed Class 10 in 1998. In 2000, he completed Class 12 at Jugal Devi Saraswati Vidya Mandir in Kanpur and later graduated in Mathematics from Dayanand Vedic College in Orai. After graduation, Saurabh felt aimless, but his interest in Hindi literature prompted him to pass the entrance exam for a master’s degree in Hindi at JNU. It was during this time that Saurabh’s fluent Hindi writing skills caught the attention of his professor, who suggested that he pursue a career in journalism. After completing his master’s degree in Hindi from JNU in 2006, Saurabh pursued a one-year postgraduate diploma in mass communication from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIM), Delhi in 2007.
Later, he also did his Masters in Hindi Literature in 2010 from JNU.
Later, he also pursued a PhD at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) but dropped out midway.

Parents and siblings
Saurabh’s grandfather, Mataprasad Dwivedi, was a member of the Indian National Congress (INC) and was known as Mata Prasad Chamari in the surrounding villages. His father, Ravikant Dwivedi, is a retired professor. Ravikant Dwivedi is also reportedly a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and has contested the Bihar assembly elections twice on behalf of the BJP, but both times were unsuccessful.
Saurabh has an elder brother named Abhay Dwivedi who is an executive at Jalaun Information Park.

Profession
Dwivedi started his journalism career as an intern at Star News in March 2007. After completing his two-month internship, he joined Live India News Channel and worked as a reporter there for four months till August 2007 before joining the Times Group as a senior copy editor-correspondent. After learning the ins and outs of journalism for two and a half years (September 2007 to February 2010), Saurabh joined the Dainik Bhaskar Group as the news editor of the Ludhiana edition of the group. From 2010 to 2013, he headed the group’s urban supplement City Life and educational supplement Bhaskar Education. In 2013, India Today Group hired him as a senior deputy editor. In January 2016, he was appointed editor-in-chief of The Lallantop, a YouTube news portal under the India Today Group. Lallantop perfectly blends humour and seriousness, providing news to the audience in simple language that even a layman can understand. Since its launch, the show has achieved tremendous success in the digital space.
Saurabh Dwivedi hosts several shows on The Lallantop including The Lallantop Show with Saurabh Dwivedi, Kitab Wala and Netanagari.

In January 2020, Saurabh Dwivedi sparked controversy by posting an offensive meme on Twitter mocking supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The meme showed an image of a condom with the words:
For those who still support BJP, please use this, we don’t want people like you in this world anymore.”

The tweet caused a huge backlash among a section of BJP supporters on Twitter, who also trended #SaurabhDwivediDallaHai on Twitter. Saurabh Dwivedi apologized and deleted the tweet after facing a huge backlash online.
