Savannah Chrisley Admits She Displays 'Codependency' in the 'Male Relationships in My Life,' Including with Dad Todd

Savannah Chrisley recognizes the unhealthy pattern she has been exhibiting with the men in her life.

During the episode about her Unlocked podcast on May 21st Chrisley knows best The alum, 26, opened up about her co-dependent behavior and how it has affected her and the male relationships in her life as she read from her “secret diary”.

“Trauma and codependency, I feel like they go hand in hand a lot of times and that was something for me that I really had to work on,” Savannah admitted. “And I’m still working on it and I’m still very codependent. ”

Describing it as “a pattern of painful dependence on compulsive behavior and approval from others in an attempt to find security, self-worth and identity,” Savannah explained that she had a tendency to “lash out at people” with her co-dependency.

She went on to say that most “codependents” are unaware that their behavior can cause “collateral damage” and affect those in their lives. The reality star shared an example of how she previously did “everything” for her younger brother Grayson and was involved in the mistake to spare him the trauma she felt in her own childhood.

“There are no borders in codependency. And that’s the thing, it’s like there’s no difference between you, me and us,” she explained, noting how she was able to identify codependent relationships in her life. “When I talked about codependency, it was between me and my dad [Todd Chrisley]relationship, me and Nic [Kerdiles]relationship. It’s like codependency really shows up in the male relationships in my life.”

Grayson Chrisley told sister Savannah she’s ‘doing a really good job’ at parenting

Now that she is aware of the importance of building an identity that is her own, Savannah has revealed that her greatest “hope” is that her inner work can help her relationships grow in healthy ways.

“So me taking responsibility for my own stuff and talking to somebody, instead of it being a blame game, it’s like, ‘Hey, I really hope my experience helps us.’ So don’t blame,” she added.

While her parents Todd and Julie Chrisley serve prison terms, Savannah takes care of her younger siblings, Grayson, 17, and Chloe, 11. Now that she has custody, the TV personality admitted that her relationship with her siblings has changed.

In the April episode UnlockedSavannah noted that she and her siblings have “always been close,” but admitted that seeing her step into a new role within their family life “must be weird for you.”

“Our relationship has changed. You’ve become more of a parent,” Grayson said. “Like there are certain things that I would do, like, if you weren’t my parent, you’d say, ‘Go.’
