Before entering the singing industry, Sawai was a puppeteer who used to perform puppet shows with his parents all over Rajasthan to earn an income. He loved music very much since he was a child, but due to poor family conditions, he could not receive professional training. As he grew older, he developed a strong interest in music and began to perform some traditional Rajasthani songs on the streets and managed to make some money.

Sawai Bhatt first came to the limelight when he participated in Sony Entertainment’s singing reality show Indian Idol Season 12. During the audition round, he sang the folk song “Keshariya Balam Aao Mere Desh” in front of judges Neha Kakkar, Vishal Dadlani and Himesh Reshammiya, wowed everyone and won the golden ticket to advance to the next round.
