Scream VII Director Christopher Landon Exits Movie Following Departures of Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega

Following Scream the film needs a new director.

Christopher Landondirector who took over directing duties for Scream VII back in August, divided ua post on X (formerly Twitter) Saturday that he is no longer involved in the project.

Landon’s departure from the upcoming sequel follows news in November that neither Melissa Barrera nor Jenna Ortega, who starred in the franchise’s last two films, will appear in the next film.

“I guess now is as good a time as any to announce that I’m officially out Scream 7 a few weeks ago. This will disappoint some and delight others,” Landon wrote in his post. “It was a dream job that turned into a nightmare. And my heart was breaking for everyone involved. Everyone. But it’s time to move on.”

“I have nothing more to add to the conversation except that I hope [original Scream director Wes Craven’s] legacy thrives and rises above the noise of a divided world,” said the director. “What he and [producer/screenwriter Kevin Williamson] something incredible was created and I was honored to bask in their brilliance even for the briefest moment.”

Landon, whose resume includes horror films like Paranormal activities: Marked (2014), Weird (2020) and Happy death day (2017), the first admit would be involved in Scream VII back in August.
