Selena Gomez’s Mom Mandy Teefey Reflects on Their ‘Incredible’ Relationship: ‘Overcame So Much to Get Here’

Selena Gomez’s mother Mandy Teefey is thankful for their “amazing” relationship this holiday season.

On Thursday, Teefey, 47, took to Instagram to share a cute carousel of pictures of her spending precious moments with the “Single Soon” singer, 31, throughout the years, just in time for Thanksgiving.

“Where we are today is incredible,” Teefey wrote.

The cover photo featured a picture of Teefey holding Gomez when she was a baby. “We’ve come through so much to get here and more importantly, we’re still family first,” her caption continued.

She then explained that the sentimental transmissions were not over for the day.

“The last picture is of me carrying Gracie, who was born a few days later. Gracie montage follows!!! 😉 XO.”

Teefey welcomed Gomez in 1992, and the star has been open about the influence her mother had on her growing up.

Selena Gomez’s mom shared a video of the singer as a cheeky five-year-old: ‘Why are they growing up?’

After marrying Brian Teefey in 2006, Teefey and her husband had a daughter, Gracie, in 2013.

“I was a teenager with Selena, obviously, and it was very judgmental,” Mandy said ET in a March 2017 interview, “My neighborhood was a really rough neighborhood [with] gangs. With all those things, and when I got pregnant, I think that’s what started it, because I was like, ‘Okay, I have another person depending on me.’ I need to get clear’ and that’s when I started breaking through. I said, ‘I’m not going to let her be raised like me.'”

“When I started working, my mom was the person in my life that helped me get through most of it. Everything that I am became a part of what my mom went through,” Gomez said Time when the publication profiled her for TIME The firsta multimedia project involving 46 revolutionary women.

“She had the ability to make me feel like I was still capable of doing anything I wanted to do.”
