Shaquille O'Neal and Steph Curry's Moms Bring Magic Johnson to Tears on Their New Show Raising Fame — Watch!

Sonya Curry and Lucille O’Neal know what it’s like to raise famous sons.

Now, mums Steph and Shaq are speaking to other star parents to find out more about their lives before notoriety hits their new show, Rising to fame on TV One.

“We want to tell the many stories of the upbringing of so many so many exceptional young men and women,” Lucille says in an exclusive trailer for the series.

IN Rising to fameset to premiere on July 7, the moms spend time with various celebrity parents, including those of Kevin Durant, John Legend, Fantasia and Magic Johnson — with the latter of whom they share an emotional conversation with.

“He said, ‘You taught me to never run away from a problem,'” Magic’s mother, Christine Johnson, says of her Hall of Famer son as he fights back tears.

In their candid conversations, Sonya and Lucille reveal what it was like for influencers to raise their children before the children “recognized their potential for greatness,” according to the diary.

“Every family, there are always trials and tribulations, there are always failures,” Legend says in the trailer.

Other celebrities appearing on the show include Danielle Brooks, Chance the Rapper, Billy Porter, Usher, Jon Batiste and even Shaq himself, according to TV One.

In addition to Steph, Sonya is also a mother to a son, Seth, and a daughter, Sydel. Meanwhile, Lucille raised Shaq as well as his half-siblings Lateefah and Jamal. Daughter Ayesha Harrison-Jex died in 2019 after three years of cancer.

Rising to famebased on Rising to Fame: Sports Edition podcast that ran until 2020, features a format where Sonya and Lucille enjoy a meal with the superstar’s parents, then engage in “intimate” conversations about their youth during each episode. Steph and Shaq’s moms also offer words of advice and share their own stories about raising their kids.

“I’m like you, I’m speechless — and I don’t really want to leave,” Sonya Lucille says at one point after a meaningful conversation.

Rising to fame premieres Sunday, July 7 at 10:00 PM ET on TV One.
