Shawn Mendes has postponed the remainder of his Wonder World Tour after postponing it for three weeks on July 8 to focus on his mental health. On Wednesday, July 27, Mendes announced the cancellation via his social media platforms. Mendes was planning a global tour to promote his latest album, Wonder, which was released in late 2020. Due to the ongoing pandemic at the time, the 23-year-old had to postpone his trip. Mendes was supposed to start the 2022 tour on July 9 in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and was supposed to run through August of the following year, but the arrangements were canceled.
After Mendes’ brief explanation of why he had to postpone the tour entirely, many fans supported his choice. Several fans supported him in his decision to cancel and advised him to “take all the time” he needs to recover. However, several domestic (domestic) and foreign fans were unhappy with the loss of hotel reservations, transportation fees and other services.
What did Shawn Mendes have to say about Wonder World Tour cancellation?
Shawn Mendes recently took to social media to say that he is not ready to deal with the stress of returning to tour. He stated:
“I started this tour happy to finally be back performing live after a long break due to the pandemic, but I was completely unprepared for how difficult the journey would be after such a long break. After consulting with my team and working with an amazing group of health professionals, it became apparent that I needed to take the time I personally never took to ground myself and come back stronger.”
Shawn Mendes went on to indicate that he plans to “continue with the rest of the dates after a well-deserved break.” However, Mendes’ official website now lists all tour dates through August 1, 2023 as canceled. Furthermore, it is unclear whether Mendes will continue the Wonder tour next year or later.
Shawn Mendes confirmed to his followers in his message that he will continue to make songs during his break from touring. This raises the chances that the Wonder tour may never take place, as Mendes could go on a replacement global tour to promote his upcoming album. While the theory is conceivable, given that Wonder would be more than two years older if she waited until 2023 to announce new tour dates, it’s still purely speculative and should be treated as such.
According to Shawn Mendes:
“…at this point in my life, I have to prioritize my health. That doesn’t mean I won’t be making new music and I hope to see you on tour in the future. I know you’ve all been waiting so long to see these concerts, and it breaks my heart to inform you that I won’t be back until I’ve had enough time to recover. I adore you all and am grateful for your love and support throughout this journey.”

As previously reported, tons of Mendes’ fans have expressed their love and support for him on all social media channels where the singer shared the remark. Most of the responses indicated that fans care more about his well-being than their own. He was told that his mental health was perfectly fine. While most people applauded Shawn Mendes’ choice, others questioned him about the ticket refund. Many fans who flew in for his concerts may not be adequately compensated for their hotel reservations and flights. So far, Mendes’ official website under his label Island Records has not released any information about ticket refunds. It will be interesting to see how the artist deals with this problem.
