Sheena Bora (1987-2012) was an Indian girl who disappeared on April 24, 2012 in Mumbai. In August 2015, Mumbai police arrested her mother Indrani Mukerjea, stepfather Peter Mukerjea and her mother’s driver Shyamvar Pinturam Rai for allegedly kidnapping and killing her and then burning her body.

In 2015, four months before Indrani Mukerjea was arrested, Mumbai police began to monitor her after receiving a tip-off. This led to the arrest of her driver, Shyamvar Pinturam Rai, on August 21, 2015, for possession of illegal weapons. During interrogation, Rai revealed details of Sheena’s murder.

In August 2015, Hina Bora’s brother Mikhail revealed that Hina was Indrani’s daughter, not her sister.

Rai gave a detailed account of the murder, saying Indrani planned it with her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna, according to the Mumbai Police FIR. They allegedly strangled Sheena to death in Bandra and later dumped her body in Raigad.

On August 25, 2015, Mumbai police arrested Indrani Mukerjea for allegedly murdering Sheena. She was charged with murder, disposal of evidence, kidnapping and conspiracy and was taken to court and remanded in police custody.

The next day, on August 26, 2015, Indrani’s ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna was arrested in Kolkata and faced similar charges in the case.

On November 19, 2015, Peter Mukerjea was arrested for his alleged involvement in the murder of Sheena Bora. He is also accused of transferring company funds to Sheena’s bank account in Singapore.

- On August 28, 2015, the mortal remains of Sheena Bora were found in Pen tehsil of Raigad district in Maharashtra.
- Following the discovery of human remains in Raigad, police acknowledged the haphazard manner in which they discovered a charred body a month after Sheena was presumed murdered in 2012. Because no case of murder or accidental death was registered at that time.
