Shehbaz Sharif is a Pakistani politician who took office as the 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan on April 11, 2022. He is also the chairman of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) party.

Political career
Shehbaz began his political career in 1988 when he was elected to the Punjab Provincial Assembly in the 1988 Pakistan General Elections. In 1990, he was elected as a member of Punjab Province for the second time in the Pakistani general election and the National Assembly of Pakistan. However, his term ended in 1990. In 1993, he was re-elected as a member of the Punjab Provincial Assembly in Pakistan’s general election. In 1997, he became the Chief Minister of Punjab. In 1999, Nawaz and Shehbaz both went into exile in Saudi Arabia and returned in 2007. After returning to Pakistan in 2007, he once again served as the Chief Minister of Punjab Province. In 2013, he served as the chief minister of Punjab for the third time. In 2018, he became the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly elections. On April 11, 2022, Shehbaz was elected Prime Minister of Pakistan in a no-confidence motion against former Prime Minister Imran Khan. After Imran Khan was removed from office, Shehbaz became Prime Minister.

Shehbaz acquitted in Sabzaza encounter case
In 1999, Shehbaz created controversy when an FIR was filed against him in a fake encounter case. Complainant Saeeduddin stated that Shehbaz ordered the police to kill his son and others. In 2003, Shehbaz was unable to appear in court because he was in exile. In 2004, he was not allowed to enter Pakistan and was asked to return to Saudi Arabia. When Shehbaz and his brother returned to Pakistan in 2007, he was arrested in connection with the 2003 encounter. Later in 2007, Shehbaz said the charges against him were politically motivated and he was released on bail.
Panama Papers Case
In June 2017, he was involved in the Panama Papers case, which involved the leak of 11.5 million confidential documents from the Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca. Subsequently, the joint investigation team investigated him for more than three hours.
