A statement on social media read: “Pearl Jam’s concert scheduled for Saturday 29th June at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London has unfortunately been canceled due to the illness of the band.

“This decision was the last thing we wanted to make, especially since we know many of you have made travel plans based on your tour schedule. There was simply no other option based on our current health and the need to avoid further damage.

“We couldn’t be more disappointed that we didn’t play in one of our favorite cities on this tour. Despite our best efforts, rescheduling was not possible at this time due to existing schedule commitments.

“We are deeply grateful for your support and sincerely apologize to the amazing Pearl Jam community for the inconvenience and disappointment.

“Tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase.”

They had previously played Manchester’s Co-op Live on Tuesday night, but Eddie Vedder was unwell.

Rumor has it that the frontman told the crowd that he struggled with his voice during the gig.

The Seattle grunge veterans slashed ticket prices for a show in London earlier this month.

Ticket sales for their shows have been unusually slow for a popular rock group due to high prices.

Premium standing tickets were initially £249.45, much to the surprise of some, while even seats at the back of the stadium were £125.

Front of the pitch standing tickets are currently available for resale for £155.25.

The cheapest prices for the group’s Manchester show at the new Co-op Live venue were £92.50, while general admission to the floor was £166.

TV adverts have been placed in recent weeks to encourage fans to attend the London show, with promoter LiveNation dropping ticket prices to £49.20, plus booking fee, in last-ditch attempts to fill seats.

Now fans have been left devastated by the last minute cancellation, with one person commenting: “What a gut punch. It will be the highlight of the year.”

Another said: “Terrified, just getting on the train to London.”

And the third added: “It’s already happened twice in London! £280 less on train and non-refundable hotels.”
