Simone Biles Says Paris Club Almost Charged Her $26,000 for Bottle of Champagne After Olympics Closing Ceremony

Simone Biles almost got a big check after a night out in Paris.

In a TikTok video, the 27-year-old gymnast said the club tried to sell her an expensive bottle of champagne when she walked out after the closing ceremony of the Olympics on August 11.

“We had the closing ceremonies of the Olympics and I left. And after that we went out. This club tried to charge me $26,000 for a bottle of champagne,” she said.

The winner of 11 Olympic medals expressed her shock over the incident. “Like are you crazy?” she added.

Biles clarified that she did not buy a bottle of expensive champagne, but continued to express surprise at the suggestion itself.

“Why would you even try to play me like that? It’s like wild,” she said in the video, noting that the bartender must have noticed who she was.

“I don’t know… sometimes the attention, I’d rather not,” she admitted in the video. “I would like to be as normal as possible”

Followers in the comments were also stunned by the price. One wrote: “$26k??? That’s insane,” while another shared: “26k is crazy omg!”

During the sporting event, the athlete won eight gold medals, breaking the record previously held by Shannon Miller and becoming the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history.

She took home gold in the women’s all-around final, gold on vault and silver on floor, and then won gold in the team all-around with her teammates Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, Hezly Rivera and Jade Carey.

Last week, Biles opened up about the “first meal” she ate after returning home from Paris. She dined at Stick Talk Cajun-Hibachi in Houston, a Texas restaurant that combines Japanese and Cajun cuisine.

Biles raved about the restaurant on Threads, saying it “never misses.”

The owner of Stick Talk told the Houston Chronicle that Biles’ husband, Jonathan Owens, took the takeout order, which included two servings of chicken fried rice with vegetables and seasoned garlic butter and a side of noodles.
