SNL Sees New The Lonely Island Song as Maya Rudolph, Dana Carvey and More Return for 2024 Election Sketch

Saturday night live introduced a new song and more celebrity roles this week.

Comedian Nate Bargatze hosted the show for the second time on October 5, and Coldplay was the musical guest, performing “All My Love” and “WE PRAY,” both from their new album The music of the month.

However, there was another musical appearance on the show, with The Lonely Island debuting a new song, “Sushi Glory Hole”, during the digital short.

Andy Samberg and Akiva Schaffer (the third member of the comedy trio, Jorma Taccone, not shown) played two 1980s businessmen who gave an unusual pitch to a board of investors, including Kenan Thompson, Maya Rudolph and Bowen Yang.

Appearing at the plate in three-piece suits and glasses, Samberg and Schaffer, both 46, put the tape on before launching into the song, which announced that for “Sushi Glory Hole,” “instead of a weird s— — you’ll get a snack.”

The two later explained the concept, “sushi through a hole in the wall,” after repeating the song’s hook, “hear us,” to a skeptical panel.

Their “Sushi Glory Hole” featured an app that allowed users to identify which bathrooms in their area had holes in the wall through which they could get “some shockingly good fish,” though they noted that sushi patrons might not always be accepted because no hole in the wall slavi was not “labeled”.

Ultimately, the board didn’t budge.

Elsewhere, SNL’with cold open again focused on the 2024 election, with the same stars as the series premiere episode on September 28, though this time mocking the recent vice presidential debate on October 2.

Harris was once again portrayed by Maya Rudolph, and SNL Alum Andy Samberg reprises his role as Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff. Dana Carvey, meanwhile, appeared with them on the couch watching the debate in the vice president’s home, reprising his role as President Joe Biden.

Among the sketches he appeared in, Bargatze, 45, reprized his hilarious role as George Washington from 2023 in the sketch’s sequel, “Washington’s Dream 2.” He also appeared with Gardner in a burger-eating contest sketch, “Mile High Burger Challenge.”
