Soccer Player Sidelined Due to Injury from 'Pretty Hefty Sneeze'

The soccer player took a break due to the injury he received – from sneezing.

Victor Adeboyejo, a striker for the Bolton Wanderers soccer team in Ontario, had to withdraw from the game after injuring his back, his manager said.

“Victor has been suffering from a nasty back injury and a sneeze triggered it yesterday [Sept. 2]believe it or not,” said Ian Evatt News from Bolton.

“We’ve scanned it and we should have the results soon,” Evatt told the outlet. “But then he had a pretty bad sneeze – now Victor is a powerful boy and even his sneezes are strong.”

Evatt shared that the 26-year-old “felt a little crack between his ribs and hopefully it’s just a cartilage or muscle problem, but until we get a good look at the tape, we won’t know.”

“Sneezing is known to cause lower back pain,” says one study from the National Library of Medicine, which says that posture can reduce the impact of a forceful sneeze on your body: “Putting both hands on the table or otherwise maintaining an upright body position are useful for reducing the strain on the lower back when sneezing.”
