Sri Lanka Team and Players for ICC World Cup 2023: Cricket is a popular sport in many parts of the world, especially in former British territories such as India, Sri Lanka and New Zealand. In the Indian subcontinent, almost all countries except Bhutan and Maldives are avid cricket fans.
Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan have even won the ICC World Cup, the biggest cricket competition on the planet. India lifted the trophy twice in 2011 and 1983, Pakistan in 1992 and Sri Lanka in 1996. The latter also finished as runners-up in the 2011 World Cup and were outstanding in the next edition as well.
However, the form of the Sri Lankan players was questioned today, with the team struggling to even qualify for the 2023 Cricket World Cup. Sri Lanka are a strong team though and will compete with a loss of spirit and nothing to lose this time.
Sri Lanka is currently participating in the 2023 Asia Cup, which it is also co-hosting with Pakistan. Fans are also excited about the World Cup, which starts on October 5.
So far, India and Australia have announced their squads. Sri Lanka is expected to do so soon. Cricket fans are eagerly awaiting the names of the players who will represent their countries in the World Cup. The deadline for submitting the roster is September 28, so the official announcement of the squad could come anytime, but probably after the Asian Cup final on September 17.
