THIS mind-bending optical illusion is sending people’s heads in a spin as they see flashing dots that aren’t really there.

Although just a static image of white discs on the intersections of grey bars on a black background – it appears to show the dots changing colour.

The white dots appear to randomly flash black across the image.

But if you keep your eyes fixed on a single disc, the dark dots do not appear.

The frustrating picture is known as the scintillating grid illusion, discovered by E and B Lingelbach and M Schrauf in 1994.

It is considered a version of the Hermann grid illusion – which shows a black grid on a white background.

Despite having no dots, viewers are left scratching their heads as they can see grey discs at the intersections.
