CREW members on Strictly were relieved as Nigel Harman left the competition after experiencing mood swings backstage.
The Casualty and former EastEnders actor, 50, quit hours before Saturday’s quarter-final after injuring his ribs in rehearsals with his professional dancer Katya Jones.

But he was still the favorite to leave after receiving disappointing scores from the judges throughout the competition — often leaving him frustrated.
A TV insider said: “Nigel takes himself very seriously as a performer and puts his heart and soul into things.
“So he’s obviously very emotional if things don’t go as he’d hoped. This often means that backstage he can be like a bear with a headache.
“Viewers saw that when he got disappointing marks for their quickstep in Blackpool.
“The crew and professionals on the show are like a close family and celebrities are welcome in it. But if someone disrupts that long-standing dynamic, it can create a bad feeling.
“However, everyone on the show also felt great sympathy for Nigel who had to leave the competition under such difficult circumstances.”
In Blackpool week, Nigel and Katya finished second from bottom after being awarded a total of 31 out of 40 points by the judges.
Viewers said he looked angry, and footage later emerged of him immediately leaving the stage as soon as filming ended.
One observer said: “Nigel is broken tonight.”
There was no public vote or elimination on last night’s show as a result of Nigel’s departure.
Speaking on Saturday’s show, Nigel said that he “jumped off the podium, that he was going to be caught by some very handsome men”.
He said: “When I was flying I was Peter Pan. When I landed, I was in the emergency room. I did something on my rib and it’s quite painful.”
That means tennis star Annabel Croft and actors Layton Williams and Ellie Leach go straight through to this week’s semi-finals.
All were still scored on Saturday, and their scores will carry over to this weekend, when viewers can once again vote for their favourites.
