Summer House: Carl Confronts Lindsay over Cocaine Claims — Only for Her to Pivot to a New Pre-Wedding ‘Alarm’

Disagreements between Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke continue to emerge.

In Thursday’s episode Summer house, the then-engaged couple talked to their co-stars about what happened the night before on the way to the club after Lindsay, 37, told Carl, 39, that she thought her housemates would be mad that she took a Lyft with the boys from them. When Carl — who has been sober since January 2021 after years of struggling with drugs and alcohol abuse — told Lindsay he was “not that deep” and that she would be “fine,” Lindsay accused him of being “on coke.”

“He got really defensive and it was like he cut me off,” Lindsay told Danielle Olivera the next morning.

In a confessional interview, Lindsay denied that she actually thought Carl had committed a sobriety violation the night before.

“I love it 1000 percent, I should have used much more delicate words at that moment,” Lindsay said. “But I’m, like, so taken aback by his aggressiveness right now and I’m trying to figure out, like, where it’s coming from. And he treats me in a way that’s, like, amazing. Like, it’s very old Carl too.”

Behind the pool, Carl thanked Kyle Cooke for being by his side.

“My biggest problem as a friend for years is that she never takes responsibility,” Kyle, 41, told Carl about Lindsay.

Carl said he didn’t want to “put the blame on her,” but Kyle thought “last night was unacceptable.” Loverboy’s founder and CEO asked Carl if the way Lindsay was acting was driving him crazy. “It scares me and makes me sad more than anything,” Carl replied.

The housemates then went to the beach, where Carl and Danielle (36) played football and caught up. Carl told her that “leaving Loverboy, I think, is the best thing for me.”

But Lindsay didn’t feel so safe.

“Since Carl left Loverboy last November, we’ve been trying to figure out what he’s been up to,” she said in the confessional. “He talks about trying to start a podcast at one point, so we got podcast equipment. He always talks about how he trained for TV and film production, talks about wanting to be a motivational speaker. And I said, ‘OK, well, I think there are a few things that need to be addressed first. But yeah, OK.'”

The former publicist claimed that Carl sought professional advice about his job opportunities. “He hired a career coach for six months,” Lindsay continued. “Six months, $20,000 for this career coach. So yeah, it’s been a journey of kind of trying to figure out who Carl wants to be when he grows up.”

Before Lindsay and Carl could discuss his career, they sat down on the beach to put the cocaine charges behind them.

“I wasn’t going to fire you last night. Not this morning either. I love you,” Carl Lindsay said.

Lindsay simply responded with “I know” and tried to explain why she said what she did the night before.

“At this point, I don’t understand where your mood came from last night,” she told Carla. “You’re just, like, very harsh and aggressive and rude and mean to me, and I’m just like, What? What happened? Like, were you mad at me?

“It seemed like it was coming from a place where you were like, really, really, really thinking that I was, like, lying to you and saying I wasn’t sober, but your they were not sober,” Lindsay said.

She replied that she had “PTSD from Old Carl” and that she had been “asking every question in the book” to find out why she thought he had reappeared the night before.

Carl agreed that he too was afraid of the resurrection of Old Carl and suggested that they start on a new foot. Lindsay agreed to it.

After the weekend ended, Carl and Lindsay sat down in New York City to discuss where the Syracuse University graduate envisions his career heading.

“What do you want to do?” Lindsay asked Carl over a mocktail. “Because you’re always, like, saying what you want to do, but there’s not a lot of movement toward actually doing it.”

Carl said “the alarm will go off at some point” for him.

For Lindsay, it already was. “It sounds, like, to me,” she said. “And listen, if s— comes to mind, I can always, like, reopen my PR firm and start working again.”

Carl thought he’d have a better idea of his next steps by the end of the summer and dismissed the idea of opening a “sober sports bar.”

Lindsay vetoed that proposal.

“I’ll have to say no to that,” she said. “Having worked in the hospitality industry all my life, representing every lounge, bar, club, hotel, restaurant, I’m telling you, I don’t want that for our future family.”

Lindsay also admitted she had her “blinders down” when it came to spotting problems in her relationship with Carla and said she now sees validity in some of Danielle’s arguments from Season 7 when app co-founder Donna suggested the couple was moving too fast.

“I don’t think we moved too fast. We were best friends for eight years,” Lindsay began. “I’ve talked about this a lot, but yeah, there it is…Danielle saw something that I didn’t at the time. So yeah, I think she was right whatever she saw.”

Towards the end of the episode, Andy asked viewers a question to Lindsay about whether she minded that her friends and Carl’s mom were still vacationing at the resort in Mexico where she and Carl planned to say “I do” during their wedding weekend in November.

“It didn’t bother me that my friends left,” Lindsay said. “I think when your son was about to get married and I, you know… and then mom just walked away, I felt like it was a little tasteless.”
