Christian McCaffrey is saying goodbye to his North Carolina home, which the 49ers running back listed days before the Super Bowl — and more than a year after the Carolina Panthers traded him to San Francisco.
The eight-acre property in Mooresville, NC, located on Lake Norman, listed last week for $12.5 million, four years after it sold in 2020 for $7.5 million.
The 11,831-square-foot home has six bedrooms, a one-bedroom guest house above a three-car garage, and plenty of features that could entice buyers — from a basement gym to a boat (named after McCaffrey’s fiancee Olivia Culpo), a Wildcat SUV, a jet ski and a golf course. stroller that is also included in the sale.
The house was listed by Victoria Speer from the Charlotte agency.

The listing comes just days before McCaffrey, 27, will join his 49ers for a game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Feb. 11 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. The team acquired him in October 2022 from the Panthers in exchange for four draft picks.
His home, Grand Lac Chateau, was “inspired by the allure of the French countryside” and was created by JJ Barja of Elite Design Group in 2015, according to a statement, which said it is still “the highest-priced property ever sold in the esteemed Charlotte Region’s Canopy MLS System.”
Also has 7.2 baths, tree lined driveway, 12 foot ceilings on main and lower levels and much more. The home’s great room includes a double-sided fireplace and windows overlooking the outdoor pool and local Lake Norman.

The main level of the home features a study, dining room, health room, chef’s kitchen and more, as the upper level includes three bedrooms, a loft and bonus room. The release said its lower level is an “entertainer’s paradise,” featuring a “soundproofed home theater,” wine cellar, family room with wet bar, hot tub and more.
In addition to the saltwater pool, the property’s outdoor features include a “private docked beach” and a spa. The house itself also has an elevator, eight fireplaces and white oak flooring, and is described as “an architectural masterpiece that embodies pure excellence in every way.”
Other notable aspects of the home include a two-story closet, a hidden panic room, as well as a “larger gym filled with exercise equipment” that the NFL star built into his garage, according to the post.

Back in October 2022, Culpo, 31, celebrated her partner’s trade from Carolina to San Francisco when she posted a heartwarming Instagram post dedicated to McCaffrey. In the video, she wrote that she was “so proud” of McCaffrey.
“This city stole my heart and I will never forget the memories and people that have made the last 3+ years so special,” she wrote of their time in North Carolina. “I will miss you all dearly and will always have a special place in my heart. I am so proud of you Christian! Seeing your light shine is one of my favorite things in life and I am beyond excited and grateful for this next chapter in Cali, to the place I’ve called home for the past 8 years. Niners Nation, let’s go!”
Just last week, she also toasted the 49ers’ 34-31 win over the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship, writing on Instagram that “watching the love of your life live her dream is the best feeling in the world.”
