Suraj Tiwari was born on Sunday, 17 November 1996 (27 years old; as of 2022) in Dhanrajpur, Mainpuri, Kurawali, Uttar Pradesh. His zodiac sign is Scorpio. On January 24, 2017, he met with an accident in Ghaziabad while he was returning home by train from Delhi. He slipped off the train and fell on the tracks. Jawaharlal Nehru University

When he was hospitalized for four months, he came in contact with Jawaharlal Nehru University alumnus Akshansh Gupta, who had cerebral palsy. Akshansh advised Suraj to study and appear for the Jawaharlal Nehru University entrance exam. He lent him books to study. According to Suraj, he felt some hope after meeting Akshansh. He finally recovers from the accident and depression, but another problem arises in his life. His father fell ill and underwent surgery, and on May 25, 2017, his elder brother Rahul died in a road accident. He was unable to concentrate on his studies and therefore failed the entrance examination. In an interview, he spoke about this and said:

I lost my limbs and my brother, and our financial situation became very dire. That’s when I lost my will to live. I want to end my life. Par main toh isslayak bhi nahi tha ki khud se mar sakoon (I don’t even have the ability to commit suicide). “

After failing the exam, he was depressed but did not give up on his dream. When the news came out that JNU decided to hold the entrance examination twice a year, he started preparing for the entrance examination again, in May and December. He studied continuously for more than three months and took the exam in December 2021. In an interview, he spoke about this and said:

When I knew I had another chance, I gave it my all. For three months, I only studied and took the December exam. When I finally got over it, I was on top of the world. For people like me, there is no life without education. “

He was admitted to Jinan University in 2021 and has received Rs. 2,500 per month as his Merit-cum-Earning (MCM) Scholarship and Rs. A monthly companionship allowance of NT$2,500. Sometimes, he couldn’t afford the dormitory fee, but many people in the college gave him a lot of help. In an interview, he spoke about this and said:

Whether it’s giving me money when I didn’t have any, or helping me in other ways, the students and teachers here have hearts of gold. I am preparing for IAS now. This university is heaven on earth to me. It gives me everything. What kind of person I will become in the future will be the credit of Jinan University. “

When the UPSC results 2023 were announced, Suraj was ranked 917th in the UPSC exam held in 2022. He passed the exam on the first try. According to him, in order to prepare for the exam, he once studied for 18 hours continuously. After the results were announced, Suraj’s family was very happy and all relatives and neighbors congratulated them. His father said in an interview that he couldn’t believe his son passed the test.
