A 22-year-old suspect was arrested after a shooting Saturday night at the Texas State Fair that left three people with “non-life threatening injuries,” the Dallas Police Department said.
On Saturday around 7:45 p.m., Dallas police responded to a shooting at the Tower building at the fairgrounds after a “preliminary investigation determined that one man shot another.” The department has since revealed that the shooting involved three adult victims, including two men and one woman, who were “last listed in stable condition.”
Cameron Turner, 22, was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated assault, the department revealed.
“The suspect fled the scene, but officers located him and took him into custody,” DPD said. “A gun was also found. The persons involved in this have been identified. The investigation is ongoing.”
On X (formerly Twitter), official account for the fair, they revealed that the fairgrounds will reopen on Sunday at 2 p.m

“The State Fair of Texas is a treasured event – a celebration of food, family and fun,” Dallas Mayor Eric L. Johnson shared on social networks. “Although this incident was isolated, I am outraged that anyone would decide to engage in violent behavior at the Fair.”
“We will not tolerate this kind of behavior. I know @DallasPD, who patrols our fairgrounds, will work with @StateFairOfTX to make sure the rest of the event is safe for everyone.”
Video from the fairgrounds Saturday night, shared by CBS News, shows families running for cover after the shooting. Around that time, the fair was divided Urgent order calling for evacuation.
“We just got on the Ferris wheel and we heard screaming,” said one fairgoer. “We didn’t hear any shots, and then everyone started running towards the exit. The workers didn’t want to tell us what happened and just told us the fair was closed.”
“There were a lot of heavily armed police at the exits and the police were very strict the whole time, making everyone go home.”

Member of the Dallas City Council Adam R. Bazaldua After the shooting, he revealed that the mayor informed him that the shooting took place in the restaurant of the fair and that it “sparked from a conflict between two people who knew each other”.
“It’s one thing to have the right to bear arms, it’s another to have laws, like carry without a permit, that make it easier to carry out senseless acts of gun violence like this in our state,” Bazaldua wrote on X. “I wish our Republican friends in Austin pass meaningful gun legislation to help our constituents feel safe in public.”
Local station WFAA reported, citing sources, that the suspect told detectives he fired in self-defense and aimed at the ground because he felt threatened when people approached him. Sources also said the victims said they didn’t see anyone shoot them, and one reportedly couldn’t remember what happened.

The shooting comes weeks after the fair announced new security measures, including a gun detection system and bag searches for fairgoers, according to CBS.
According to the fair’s website, “no weapons of any kind are allowed on the fairgrounds” — including “firearms, knives, batons, tasers, chemical spray devices,” with sharp metal objects like “pocket knives, scissors and other sharp objects” also prohibited.
“The Fair has long allowed Fair visitors with valid firearms permits to carry their handguns concealed while attending the Fair (except where prohibited by law),” the page also states. “The State Fair will not allow unlicensed gun owners to enter the fairgrounds with firearms.”
