Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone celebrated her latest gold medal like the queen she is.
On August 8, McLaughlin-Levrone, 25, not only won the gold medal in the 400m hurdles at the 2024 Paris Olympics, but also broke the world record. And that was the world record she held.
When she crossed the finish line in 50.37 seconds, she – like many athletes – went to the stands at the Stade de France where family and friends watched, where she was presented with a glittering tiara. She returned to the track wearing the tiara and raised the American flag to celebrate her victory to wild cheers from the crowd.

McLaughlin-Levrone told PEOPLE on Aug. 9 that her sister-in-law actually brought the tiara for her.
“She told me a few months ago that she was going to bring it, and it was a really sweet and fun thing to do,” she said. “She was like, ‘I’m going to crown you.'”
After the race, the Olympian told reporters that she “wears the crown for her”.

McLaughlin-Levrone’s medal was also Team USA’s 100th at these Olympics, an honor the athlete told PEOPLE was “super special.”
“I don’t even know how to put it into words,” she said.
The star athlete previously set a world record in the event in June with a time of 50.65 seconds — breaking her own Olympic record set during the Tokyo Games. She also won a gold medal at those Olympic Games.
