Tameka Foster Says Ex Usher ‘Killed It’ During Super Bowl Halftime Show — but Shares One Styling Critique (Exclusive)

Tameka Foster is rooting for her ex-husband Usher.

The fashion stylist – who shares sons Usher V, 16, and Navid Ely, 15, with the 45-year-old “OMG” singer, spent Super Bowl Sunday in the stands watching Usher’s halftime performance.

“I think he did incredibly well,” Foster, 53, tells PEOPLE of her ex-husband’s performance. “I didn’t notice a single — I mean, not a single — flaw in the performance. He crushed him…he killed him. I don’t think people realize that he sings live and does all these things. So that’s one thing that really needs to be considered. The microphone is always on when he’s around, he can really sing. It was beyond… beyond anyone’s expectations.”

Foster — who is known for styling Usher, as well as JAY-Z, Mary J. Blige, Patti LaBelle and many other famous stars — says that when it came to her ex-husband’s halftime performance outfit, there was only one thing that would change.

“His look was great… I thought he looked beautiful,” says the fashion stylist. “The only comment I had was that I would have liked his opening outfit to be a bit tighter – not small, but a bit slimmer, just because I really prefer to see the wrinkles on the dancers when people are dancing. I like to see the features of their physique. But other than that, I loved the outfit. I loved the opening, the coat, everything.”

When it came to planning the halftime play, Foster said it was a family affair. “Naviyd was very instrumental in his father’s Super Bowl performance,” she tells PEOPLE. “He’s so creative… he had loads of ideas. He literally did the whole performance — even with [Usher] starting in the chair. I want him to go the creative director route. That’s his call.”

Usher’s halftime performance wasn’t his only major headline from Super Bowl weekend. The Grammy-winning artist married his longtime girlfriend Jennifer Goicoechea (40) on February 11 in Las Vegas.

Although Foster hasn’t spoken to Usher since the recent wedding — “I’m sure I’ll talk to him sooner [this article] is coming out,” she says — the stylist is happy for her ex-husband. “I think it’s great. I mean, listen, love is a beautiful thing, and if he’s found it again, congratulations.”

The stylist stars in the latest WE tv show, Brave & Boujie, premiering Thursday. “It was really, really wonderful,” Foster says of filming the series alongside Malaysia Pargo, Goch Hawkins, Princess Banton-Lofters and Crystal Smith. “I find joy in our differences… I love getting to know them. And we have a great sisterhood right now.”
