Taylor Zakhar Perez Recalls Creepy Fan Encounter at SAG Awards 2024: ‘Followed Me to China Then Followed Me Back Home’

Taylor Zakhar Perez recounts a bizarre encounter with a fan at the 2024 SAG Awards.

While speaking with E! on the red carpet before Saturday’s awards ceremony, Red, white and royal blue the actor shared that a fan accompanied him on a trip to China and back to the United States when carpet host Loni Love asked for a story about his craziest fan encounter.

“My craziest fan encounter? Someone followed me to China and then followed me home,” Perez, 32, said on the carpet. “That was interesting. Yeah, it was wild. I’d say wild.”

“Yeah, yeah, she was great,” Perez added, when asked by the host to clarify that “[was] okay though,”

Perez, who is at Saturday’s SAG Awards as one of this year’s ambassadors of the actors’ association together with Ted LassoPhil Dunster, did not elaborate further on the extent of this fan interaction. The actor’s representatives did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

The actor talked about the chances that Red, white and royal blue, the 2023 romantic comedy in which he starred with Nicholas Galitzine, will get a sequel (the film is adapted from Casey McQuiston’s 2019 novel of the same name).

“I did — I think it’s up to Casey McQuiston, because I think she has an opportunity to tell a really cool story,” Perez said. In the film, he played the fictitious son of the first president of the United States who falls in love with an English prince (Galitzine). “So we’ll see, with Amazon Studios, what they say, what Casey says and [director Matthew López]but fingers crossed.”
