The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White Reveals When He’ll Start ‘Sharpening Up’ His Skills Ahead of Season 3

Jeremy Allen White is ready to return to the kitchen!

On Wednesday morning, White, 32, appeared on Today with his Iron Claw castmates, and gave Bear fans timeline for the third season of the series.

“I think we’ll start in February or March,” said White, who plays top chef Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto on the critically acclaimed FX show, which was renewed for a third season in November, per Diversity.

But before that, he’ll hone his skills to get back into Carmy’s culinary world, White revealed.

“In January I’m going to get together with some chefs and start cooking in the kitchen again, sharpening my skills,” he said.

White also revealed that the drama-comedy series — which follows a Chicago restaurant’s struggle to succeed — also influenced his real-life dining experiences.

When asked by Today anchor Craig Melvin if the restaurant staff would recognize him and his Bear costars and “sending free food,” White said, “Yeah, they fed us.”

He also experienced this kind of treatment on set Iron Claw in Louisiana last year.

“Salute to all the wonderful restaurants in Baton Rouge,” he said Shameless added alum. “They really cared about us.”

“That’s the only reason I went to dinner with him,” joked Harris Dickinson, White’s Iron Claw costar and brother on screen.

Caucasians training with real chefs is nothing new – he studied with professional chefs for both Bearprevious seasons, he revealed in a June interview for Golden derby.

To learn the ins and outs of working in a professional kitchen, the actor did a lot of research and character preparation at Pasiola, a French restaurant in Santa Monica, he told the news outlet.

“I spent a lot of time as a fly on the wall and I would help them prepare where you can’t really screw anything up,” he said.

Then, on a “pretty busy night,” one of the chefs told him to “start cooking,” even though he was “so, so scared,” he revealed.

Stressful or otherwise, White said working in kitchens like Pasioli’s was “something I wanted to do.”

“I like spending time in these places,” he said Golden derby. “I like all the people who work there and I love learning everything about this trade.”

And his work paid off – White won the hearts of the internet with his skills as a die-hard chef and heartthrob status as Carmy.

While talking to PEOPLE at the film’s world premiere Iron Claw last month he responded to the internet’s obsession with his Bear character.

“What do I say to the internet?” Bear the star asked before replying: “Thanks for watching. I don’t know, I’m flattered. It surprises me, really.”

“But I’ll take it!” White added with a shrug. “I’ll take what I can get!”
