In a deleted scene posted on the ABC dating series’ Instagram, Marina — who received a rose from Gerry Turner during week one’s rose ceremony — explained her decision to step away from the show and not appear in Thursday’s episode.
The clip begins with host Jesse Palmer telling Gerry, 72, that Marina, 60, will no longer be on the show because she “had a situation with her family at home.”
“She’s not here now, but she wanted a chance to talk to you, if that’s okay,” he said.

During a FaceTime call with Gerry, Marina explained that she had to prioritize her family.
“What I wanted to tell you, you know, I’m a single mother and I had to choose my family and, you know, support the needs of my family at this time,” she said. “I’m so sorry I had to go, but at the same time I had to sort out my priorities.”
Gerry was fully responsive to her thinking. “I totally understand,” he said. “Commitment to family trumps almost everything else.”
“I really respect you for what you did,” he added. “I agree with you 100 percent that you had to put your family needs first.”

The Los Angeles educator then told Gerry that she appreciated his understanding. He responded by saying she had his “prayers and support” as she dealt with her family’s situation.
“I really wish you well. I think there are some beautiful women out there with beautiful souls and I want to wish you all the best from the bottom of my heart,” she shared.
“It’s a wonderful feeling,” he replied. “And I wish you all the happiness in the world.”
Speaking to Jesse, Gerry admitted he was “disappointed” with her decision but ultimately understood her choice, adding: “But like I told her, when you do the right thing and make the right decision, good things keep coming to you. .”
