The Night Agent Season 2: All About the Thriller's Highly Anticipated Second Installment

Get ready for more high-speed car chases, government conspiracies, and thrilling action on Netflix — because Night agent officially returns for a second season in January 2025.

In February 2024, Tudum announced that Netflix had begun production on 10 more episodes for the spy thriller series, which reached more than 150 million hours watched in its first week. No release date has been set, but show creator and showrunner Shawn Ryan has announced that some new faces will be joining the cast.

Returning stars Gabriel Basso and Luciane Buchanan will star alongside new series regulars Amanda Warren, Arienne Mandi, Louis Herthum and Bert Colon. Brittany Snow and Teddy Sears will also join in recurring roles.

“We liked the idea that this wasn’t so clean,” Ryan said, referring to Gordon Wick, Ben Cotton’s character, who faced no consequences for his involvement in the assassination attempt. “That there is one person who, because of his resources and everything, can sneak in. Maybe we’ll deal with him again in some way.”

Basso also teased some unfinished business with disgraced White House Chief of Staff Diane Farr (Hong Chau). Although she survived a bullet wound in the season finale, it was unclear if she would face any repercussions.

“Because of his faith in due process, he will not be angry that she is alive,” the actor told Tudumu. “But if Farr escapes justice, he’ll be a little more careful [President] Travers. It’s not okay for Peter to be a traitor and not get justice.”

Amanda Warren will play veteran night agent Catherine, who runs a research program and oversees the training of new recruits. The actress is best known for her roles in Remains and Dickinson. Also joining the second season cast are Arienne Mandi as low-level assistant Noor, Louis Herthum as international businessman Jacob Monroe, and Berto Colon as Solomon, a veteran Marine who “solves” a very rich man’s problems.

Specific plot details about the upcoming season have been kept under wraps for now, but fans are excited to see how the now-official night agent handles his first case on the job — and whether Rose will continue to lend his unofficial cybersecurity expertise.

In a 2023 interview with PEOPLE, Basso said he was drawn to the show because it didn’t romanticize violence or turn his character into an unrealistic superhero. To the horror of some fans, the actor believes that the only end for his character, Peter, is death.

“I think he has to die to stay strong in his morals and values,” Basso said. “I think it’s a collision course to make an enemy out of the government and their willingness to subvert morality. To me, fighting an entity that has unlimited resources is a losing battle. Having the willingness to do that is an admirable trait, but it would lead him to a kind of death .”

“That’s one of the big questions we’d like to answer in Season 2,” Ryan told Tudumu. “What does it mean for Peter to get on this plane and go somewhere (probably overseas to embark on some wild new adventure) and for Rose to come back to California to try again for her Silicon Valley dreams? We certainly have some initial ideas.”

Buchanan said to Tudum that he hopes Rose will once again realize her dreams of working in tech.

“[The ending] leaves it open,” said the actress. “And I want an ending for her. I said, ‘This girl needs a lot of therapy after what she’s been through.’ ”
