The Repair Shop’s Will Kirk shared an insight into his family history in an upcoming special episode of the show.
The sequel, which airs Wednesday, June 21 on BBC One, will see experts fix four entries celebrating the Windrush generation’s contribution to the UK.
In a clip from the episode, which you can watch below, host Jay Blades joins furniture expert Will and pottery conservator Kirsten Ramsay in the warehouse. “It’s all about Windrush today,” Jay said before asking Will if he had anything to do with that generation.

“My grandparents were from that generation,” he replied, prompting Jay to share his connection. “It’s the same here. My grandmother came and studied nursing. That’s what she studied in Barbados and then came and started working.”
Revealing the upcoming special, he continued: “We have really beautiful pieces that really mean a lot to that generation, the Windrush generation.”

Jay Blades said of the episode: “It was a really poignant episode of The Repair Shop. My grandmother was part of the generation that came to the UK like the ones on Windrush, so it’s especially important to me. I’m that we can mark that part of British history.
