Eric Stonestreet is about to become the newest icy enemy of the North Pole on Disney+ Santas!
In PEOPLE’s exclusive first look at the show’s second season, Stonestreet, 51, steps into the role of formidable nemesis Magnus Antas, or “Mad Santa.”
The new season, premiering on Disney+ this holiday season, will see Magnus, a mead-loving adversary who ruled during the 14th century, thwart Scott Calvin’s (Tim Allen) succession plans and attempt to reclaim the North Pole as his own.
“Season 2 sees the Calvin family return to the North Pole as Scott Calvin resumes his role as Santa Claus after retirement plans are thwarted by his failure to find a worthy successor in season 1,” reads the season 2 logline. “Now that Scott and his family have successfully saved Christmas, Scott turns his attention to training his son Cal (Austin Kane) to eventually take over the ‘family business’ as Santa.”

The series is adapted from the 1994 film Santa Claus. Two successful sequels followed, including Santa Claus 2 in 2002 and Santa Claus 3: The Escape Clause 2006. In November 2022, Season 1 Santas debuted on Disney+.
Around that time, Allen told PEOPLE that reprising the role of Santa and reuniting with the cast after nearly three decades was “like seeing family again.”
“It’s almost like time has stood still except for my age,” he said. “Now I look younger in Santa’s makeup than without it.”
Allen also added that it’s “absolutely humbling” to be able to return to the role after all these years.
“Walking around the set on the first day, it was wonderful to see the faces of children and adults wide-eyed and smiling. It reminds me of how this movie magic works,” he said.
