Rothwell also appears as Piper Benz in Wonka, which follows the early adventures of the titular candy maker (Timothée Chalamet). Speaking about her role, she tells PEOPLE that she “really has to make it her own.”
“I understood the world because of the previous iterations of the story, and it was amazing to do and play,” Rothwell tells PEOPLE. “And Piper is just strong. I mean DNA. I remember walking into the costume check and they had pictures of Rosie the Riveter and I was like, ‘Oh, I’ve got this.’ ”
