There’s a venomous spider hiding in the grass… but you can YOU spot it?

THIS incredible photograph contains a potentially-deadly critter – a four inch venomous wolf spider lurking in plain sight.

Amateur photographer Adam Newport captured the optical illusion style image outside his house in Queensland, Australia, and he says that everyone who has seen his picture refuses to believe that there is a spider there.

But can you spot the eight-legged creepy crawly?

When the stealthy spider’s location is revealed, the perfectly-camouflaged bug – which can cause flesh to rot if its poisonous bite is left untreated – can be seen hiding in the grass.

Adam, a courier driver and part-time male model, said: “I caught this wolf spider inside my house in the bathroom and took it across the road to release it onto the grass.

“It must have been 10cm across but when I put it down I was amazed at how well and quickly it blended in.

“I put it on the grass and thought I was looking at it but it was actually somewhere else in a different spot.

“It was like an optical illusion. I have had so many people say there is nothing there.

“When you first look at the photo it just looks like grass, it is invisible. But when you look closely there is a spider lurking.

“When people realise they are amazed, they don’t believe there’s a spider there so when they see it they’re like ‘wow!'”

The venom of the wolf spider can be extremely painful but is not usually life-threatening.

But, in some cases it can cause skin necrosis (where the flesh is eaten away) but there are no reports of the creatures causing human deaths.

However, self-taught amateur snapper Adam said if the wolf spider’s bite was left untreated it could lead to a potentially-fatal infection.

The 38-year-old added: “Wolf spiders are pretty common in homes in this area – I have seen two in my home in the past seven or eight years – but they can be dangerous if they give you a bite.

“They wouldn’t cause death from the bite itself as their venom is not life-threatening but they can cause an infection in your skin if they bite you and this could be deadly if the infection spread badly enough.

“You have to go straight to the doctor as soon as you get bitten. It swells up and makes a hole in the skin and eats away the flesh.

“How well it can camouflage definitely makes it more dangerous – if you stood on it with bare feet it would definitely bite you.

“The wildlife in Australia is one of a kind. There are lots of animals here which are good at camouflaging and blending in with everything.”

Last week, a similar photo was doing the rounds – with a sneaky poisonous snake hiding amongst a pile of leaves.
