Tish Cyrus sings the praises of husband Dominic Purcell.
The Cyrus family matriarch, 56, opens up to PEOPLE about how Purcell, whom she married in August 2023, empowers her every day.
“We are so happy,” Tish, who co-hosts Sorry, we’re high podcast with daughter Brandi Cyrus, she says about herself and Purcell, 53.
“He just encourages me to fly. He’s like, ‘You’re the funniest, you’re the prettiest, you’re the cutest, you’re this — just show the world who you are,'” she continues. “It just empowered me in a way I’ve never felt before. It was really great.”

Tish officially went Instagram with Purcell in November 2022, about seven months after announcing her divorce from ex-husband Billy Ray Cyrus.
She told later Vogue that Purcell proposed to her during Thanksgiving week 2022, and the couple publicly announced their engagement in April 2023, when Tish shared a photo of her ring on Instagram.
The couple then tied the knot in a small ceremony in Malibu, California, which took place in Tisha’s daughter Miley Cyrus’ backyard on August 19, 2023.
Shortly after, Tish posted a sweet photo of herself posing with Purcell on their special day, writing, “Married my best friend on 8/19/23 and it was magical 💗 @dominicpurcell.” In the comments section, Escape from prison star replied: “The love of my life. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.”

Reflecting on her past relationship with Billy Ray, 62, Tish tells PEOPLE, “I’m over 50, I’m going to be 57 this year. And when I was literally going through a divorce and trying to make the decision to get out of a 30-year marriage, I was mostly terrified.”
“I thought I would be alone forever, and that was one of the moments I had [a] paralyzing anxiety breakdown,” she continues. “I joke about it and say I had a complete mental breakdown.”
“There were 30 days where I didn’t eat, I didn’t sleep, I felt like I was just coming out of my skin. And it was really scary,” adds the Nashville, Tennessee native, who has been married to the “Achy Break Heart” singer since 1993. . until 2022. “I promise you, starting over is sometimes the best thing you can do. It was great.”
