Tom Brady Works Out Shirtless and Added This Exercise to His Routine: 'Color Analysts Have to Stay in Shape Too!'

Retirement isn’t stopping Tom Brady from taking his workouts seriously.

Brady, 47, took to Instagram on Monday, September 23, revealing his workouts these days, including a surprising new addition to swimming.

Fox Sports’ lead color commentator posed shirtless poolside on a plyometric box in the backyard of his Miami home. In the first picture, he is smiling with his white Nobull drive mesh trainers on a box near his weights and exercise bands.

Another photo includes the seven-time Super Bowl champion freestyle swimming in a large pool. His last picture shows him in the middle of working out on top of a box.

“Color analysts have to stay in shape too! He added some swimming to his workout routine this year… a lot of muscle resistance and some aerobic cardio all at once,” he wrote in the caption.

Brady added his exact workout: “4×100 freestyle; 4×25 fast, 25 recovery; 2×200 free; 20x weighted step up; 20x push-ups with a high-resistance band; 10x box jump; Repeat x4.”

Earlier this month, Brady’s former teammate Rob Gronkowski told PEOPLE that the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback’s lifestyle change after retirement is for the better. Brady retired after 23 seasons in the NFL for the second and final time in February 2023.

Gronk exclusively told PEOPLE on Sept. 3 that he was surprised “by the way [Brady] he has taken care of himself since he retired from football.”

“I think he’s in better shape than he was when he was playing,” said Gronkowski, 35. “Every time I see him, he looks better and better. It’s just amazing how he does it!”

“The guy just had a 23-year career and he’s still all over the place doing things, baiting people and playing football with kids,” Gronkowski said.

Earlier this month, Brady made his Fox Sports debut, calling the Dallas Cowboys-Cleveland Browns game on Sept. 8. The Cowboys beat the Browns 33-17.

After the game, teammate Kevin Burkhardt asked Brady how it felt to have his first game as a commentator under his belt, Brady offered a positive response.

“I’ve used my arm and my body for so many years, and now I come to the stadium and start using my voice,” Brady replied.

“Maybe I’ll go out there tomorrow morning and make some passes just to remember what it feels like. But as Michael Strahan said to me in the pregame, ‘You’re going to wake up Monday morning and it won’t hurt,’ and I’m very happy about that.”
