Tori Spelling Admits Doing DWTS After Shannen Doherty's Death Is 'Hard' But Vows to 'Commit' (Exclusive)

Tori Spelling is ready to give it her all Dancing with the stars thanks to an unforgettable lesson she learned from Shannen Doherty.

While speaking with PEOPLE after the show’s 33rd season cast reveal on Wednesday, Sept. 4, Spelling, 51, reflected on how the actress, who died in July at age 53, inspired her to “go all out.” hit reality competition series.

“It’s definitely hard doing the show and all the excitement and losing Shan so recently. But I remember she loved doing it and was totally into it,” Spelling says of Doherty, who competed on the show’s 10th season.

“She definitely inspired me in life to, you know, when you commit, you commit. And definitely, this season, she encouraged me to turn on my power,” Spelling adds. “So I’ll take it with me.”

Spelling and Doherty Fellow Beverly Hills, 90210 Co-star Brian Austin Green, who also appeared in the dance competition, had some words of encouragement for the mum-of-five.

“Brian Austin Green knew the whole time since I got that phone call,” she says. “So the whole time I was like, ‘I don’t know. What should I do? Should I do it?’ And he said, ‘You’re going to be amazing, you have to do it.’ ”

Green, 51, who competed in his 30th season Dancing with the stars, is engaged to Sharna Burgess, a former professional dancer on the show.

Spelling tells PEOPLE that Burgess, 39, knew her partner, Pasha Pashkov, would be her “perfect” match.

“Sharna is totally like, from the beginning I was like, ‘Sharna, who do you think I’m going to get? Who’s my partner?’ ” says Spelling. “And she literally went through everything and said, ‘Here’s why I think you’d work for you,’ and everything.”

Rounding out this season’s celebrity cast Dancing with the stars are Phaedra Parks, Eric Roberts, Anna Delvey, Dwight Howard, Danny Amendola, Brooks Nader, Ilona Maher, Joey Graziadei, Chandler Kinney, Reginald VelJohnson, Jenn Tran and Stephen Nedoroscik.
