Touching shot. A Deaf Man Adopts A Deaf Rescue Dog – He Teaches It Sign Language

Nick Abbott from Maine has always had trouble finding friends because he was born deaf. But everything changed when he met Emerson, a dog who also has hearing problems. Since then, the two have been inseparable best friends!

Nick has always wanted a dog, but his disability makes it quite difficult. However, when he came across a Facebook post about a dog with hearing loss, the 31-year-old decided to meet him.

Nick told WABI-TV: “I said ‘Oh, he’s deaf too'”. “Maybe I can go check what’s all about it.”

An adorable black lab mix, Emerson was just six weeks old when he was rescued from a Florida shelter and taken to the North Florida Rescue Team in Maine. .

When he got there, he was hospitalized because of a seizure. But soon after making a full recovery, he was put on the adoption list. The rescue team also shared several photos of Emerson on Facebook, hoping to increase their chances of finding a permanent home.

“Emerson is still searching for her permanent home,” NF Rescue of Maine’s Lindsay Powers wrote on Facebook. “Keep sharing, this sweet boy deserves his forever home!”

Immediately after seeing the Facebook post, Nick asked Lindsay for some details and they arranged a meeting. It turned out later, it was love at first sight between him and the deaf puppy.

Nick explained: “He came right up to me at the door and immediately sat at my feet and stayed there. “So you could say he chose me in a way. And I knew right away that we would get along very well and understand each other.”

Nick immediately adopted Emerson and since that time, they have shared a special bond. Because both are hard of hearing, Nick considers his furry companion to be sign language, and now the black labrador can respond to visual commands.

Nick told WABI-TV: “Our relationship is great. “We know each other very well. I like to think that makes sense. He’s special!”
