Fans will have to wait a little longer to see Dave Mason in concert.
The Traffic founder, 78, revealed his upcoming 2024 tour has been canceled as he is currently seeking treatment for a “serious heart condition”, in an Instagram post published on Tuesday (September 24).
“Dave Mason has announced the cancellation of his fall ‘Traffic Jam 2024’ West Coast tour after doctors discovered a serious heart condition requiring immediate medical attention during a routine checkup,” the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee’s team said in a statement.

The note continued, “His medical team expects a full and successful recovery and Mason plans to continue his plans to tour in 2025.”
Mason also gave a direct statement to fans about his feelings on the unfortunate news. “I’m heartbroken to have to cancel these dates, but it’s the doctor’s orders. I’ll be back, and better than ever, in 2025,” he said.
The musician, who has worked with the Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac and Jimi Hendrix, was originally scheduled to play a series of concerts in Arizona, Nevada and California until October 12.

Last week, Mason’s team informed fans that the tour’s first two shows in Phoenix and Las Vegas had been canceled “on medical advice.”
Formed in 1967, Traffic featured an original cast of Mason, Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi and Chris Wood.
Mason’s solo career began in 1970 with his debut album, Alone Togetherand since then he has released over a dozen additional projects. His highest-charting solo hit was 1977’s “We Just Disagree,” which peaked at No. 12 on the charts Billboard Hot 100.

He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as one of the founders of Traffic in 2004.
In the interview for 2019 LouderMason said a major highlight of his career was witnessing Hendrix record a cover of Bob Dylan’s “All Along the Watchtower” for his 1968 album. Electric Ladyland.
“I guess if I had to pick one moment, it would be sitting across from Hendrix, facing him with my acoustic guitar, Mitch Mitchell next to us, and laying down a song for All next to the Watchtower” he said at the time. “That would be a grade up there.”
