Profession

At the age of 7, she participated in the U-10 State Championships in Kannur, Kerala. She performed better in doubles than singles at nationals, so she decided to move into the doubles category for the competition. In an interview, she said of the incident,

In singles, I did well at the state level, but at the national level, I only made it to the semifinals once or twice a year, no consistency. I was better in doubles. “

To continue her badminton training, she joined Prela Gopichand Badminton Academy in Hyderabad in 2020. At the academy, her coach Arun Vishnu and former Indian badminton player Prela Gopichand paired her with Gayatri Gopichand (a badminton player) in the women’s doubles competition. Teresa subsequently performed with Gayatri in many national and international competitions. The pair was successful and they won several women’s doubles medals for India.

  • At the age of 5, she started badminton training. Her father, a physical education teacher, started her initial training. She trained under her father for almost six years before his father decided to continue her professional training. During her first few years of training, she competed in women’s doubles with her sister. In an interview, she talked about her badminton career. she says,

    When I started this sport, almost no one in our village played it. When my father started encouraging my sister and me to play badminton, many people doubted him. Many people think it has no use and no one in our area would make a career out of it. But my father ignored it and kept training us and supporting us. “

    In terms of career goals, I am now more focused on doubles, with the goal of qualifying for the next Olympics in 2024.
