But he warned that the culprits who took the 1977 Triumph stag “picked the wrong one” because the engine was “completely unique”.

Posting on Twitter, he said: “The f*** who stole our car last night – you picked the wrong one – he’s totally unique and everyone is looking for him – spread the word.”

Pictures he posted of his green convertible show his cute dogs sitting in the back seat in a brief moment outside his home.

And his wife Sophie also took to social media to mourn the “terrible news”.

She wrote that the “prized” engine is the family’s “pride and joy”.

Jamie’s motorbike was already stolen last October.

Speaking on his Heart FM breakfast radio show at the time, he said: “It was 2am when my doorbell rang and it was the police.

“They say, ‘Mr Theakston, your car has been stolen. It’s just been on the tracker and it’s about an hour away’.”

Fortunately for Jamie, it soon dawned on DJ who the culprit was.

Theakston added: “I quickly realized that the woman had stolen the keys from the table in the hall.”

Luckily, cops found his vehicle on what the star said was a “dramatic night.”

Theakston has been married to his wife Sophie Siegel since 2007.

Most people will recognize Jamie as the presenter of Top of the Pops between 1998-2003.

However, he is probably best known for his radio career, which began when he was 23 years old.

A BBC sports director spotted his talent and hired him to host a Saturday sports show on Greater London Radio.

After that he hosted a number of live shows for Radio 5 until he joined Radio 1 in 1999 and hosted the Sunday Lunch show.

He left Radio 1 in 2002 to pursue an acting career, which included Marple and Agatha Christie’s Little Britain.

In 2005, Theakston returned to radio presenting and joined Heart 106.2 on Heart Breakfast with Harriet Scott.

He now hosts the breakfast show with Amanda Holden, who replaced Spice Emma Bunton in 2018.
