Vece Paes is a former Indian hockey player. He played for the Indian hockey team during the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. He is the father of famous Indian tennis player Leander Paes. Vece is also a board certified sports medicine physician. He was the Chairman of Calcutta Cricket and Football Club.

In 1964 and 1965, Viche Paes prepared to study medicine at Presidency College, Calcutta. Then, from 1974 to 1983, he worked as a general surgeon in the medical field. Thereafter, from 1984 to 2000, he practiced medicine in corporate and sports institutions in Kolkata. Vece Paes has been serving as Sports Medicine Consultant to the Tennis Association of India since 1991. From 1996 to 2001, he worked with the All India Football Federation. He also provided medical assistance to the Indian Olympic Association during the Olympics and Asian Games.

Vece Paes is a former midfielder for the Indian hockey team. He played for the Indian hockey team from 1965 to 1972. He participated in the 1972 Munich Olympics and the 1971 Barcelona World Cup. Apart from hockey, he also plays cricket, football, hockey and rugby at divisional level. From 1996 to 2002, he served as the President of the Indian Rugby Union.

- Vece Paes has his mother’s house in Velim, Goa, where he and his family often go on vacation. Vece Paes lives in Mumbai with his family. Like many other Goan Catholic families from the AVC villages (Assolna, Velim, Cuncolim), Leander’s grandfather, Dr. Peter Paes, traveled to Africa for work. Dr. Peter Pace has been a doctor in Arusha, Tanzania for a long time. Afterwards, he returned to Calcutta to live with his son Viche Paes.
- Vece Paes is respected in the sports world for his services in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and BCCI. He is best known for overseeing anti-doping education programs for the BCCI and ACC.
- In 2022, a cricket match called Dr Vece Paes Cricket Cup will be held in Kolkata to commemorate the life of Vece Paes. Leander Paes, Yusuf Pathan and Dr Vece Paes were photographed by the media in their jerseys ahead of a Kolkata Cricket and Football Club match.
