Welcome to Plathville: Olivia Reveals She Spent the Night with Her First Date Post-Divorce, Says 'I Don’t Regret It'

Olivia Plath is officially back on the romance bandwagon.

The reality star revealed she went on her first date since divorcing ex-husband Ethan on the Aug. 27 episode Welcome to Plathville. Explaining that she was set up with a “friend of a friend”, Olivia said the night took an unexpected turn.

“We had dinner, went to a few bars, saw live music, had a few drinks, and then I – 25 years old, never dated or had any experience like that – didn’t suspect anything when he said, ‘Do you want to go home and meet my cat ?'”, she said in her confessional. “Because he talked to me all night about his cat, and I said, ‘I really like cats, of course I do.'”

“So I learned very quickly that I don’t really know much about a lot of things,” she continued. “I met his cat. She was very sweet. I saw her for about a minute. Let’s just say it was the first time I spent the night at someone’s house.”

Although she admitted she was naive going into it, Olivia said it was a “good match” and “he was a lovely gentleman”.

“I have no regrets at all,” she said. “I think I was just very self-conscious. The first date was like being thrown into the deep end and realizing I couldn’t swim.”

After that experience, Olivia said she decided to stop dating in Los Angeles and started looking for people who were interested in long-distance relationships.

“I’ve found it’s a really great way to separate my single, private life in LA, to manage and have fun while traveling, going on dates, talking to people but not seeing them every day,” she said. “It will not affect my personal life. So I feel like that distance is really big for me.”

Dating also showed Olivia that she enjoys activities more than dinners and drinks, she told her friend as they made tiramisu and shared a bottle of wine. When she meets someone for the first time, she explained, she wants to see them in a more natural element.

“I feel a little bit like, ‘Okay, anyone can be really nice when you’re in a really nice environment and like you’re dressed the best,'” she shared. “It’s like I want to go paintball with someone and see how they like the competition. What do you do when you feel bored? Let’s say, are you a good conversationalist or do you need props for everything?”

Olivia then dropped the bombshell, revealing that she was seeing a man who lived in another state.

“There was a guy I met at work who said, ‘Hey, you know, I’d really like to take you out for dinner and drinks, but also, looking at your social media, you seem like you’re an activity kind of person, and if you’d rather be doing something otherwise, say I’m down too, let’s do it,’ she recalled. “And when a guy comes along who sees me for who I am and meets me right there, I think that’s a great way to just stand out.”

She added: “Then we went on a date and we had so much fun together. And physically, very attracted. It works. There is a lot of compatibility.”

As the producer remarked that “it sounds like there could be potential,” Olivia nodded her agreement with a smile on her face.
