Welcome to Plathville’s Ethan Plath Says ‘I’m Done’ as He and Olivia Hit a New Low in Their Marriage

The differences between Ethan and Olivia Plath come to a head as the couple faces pressure on all fronts.

In a dramatic mid-season announcement of what’s to come on TLC Welcome to PlathvilleEthan and Olivia continue through difficult times in their marriage as the couple tries to talk about “what has changed” between them.

“Why are you like this now? You weren’t like that before,” Ethan (25) scolds his wife for her behavior, while Olivia (25) asks him the same question.

Coincidentally (or not), Olivia posted a Heidi Priebe quote on Instagram on Sunday — two days after their fifth wedding anniversary — that read, in part, “To love someone long-term is to attend a thousand funerals of the person they were.”

“When Olivia and I moved here to Minnesota, we were in a very good place,” Ethan begins in their confessional. “It completely disappeared within a few months.”

The scene flashes back to their confrontation, with Olivia claiming, “When we were dating, I thought you respected me.”

While Ethan may have his own doubts about his marriage, his worries may be fueled by the concerns of a family member as he tells his father, Barry Plath, about Olivia’s doubts about his parents’ support.

“She feels like you like me and her not together,” he tells the Plath family patriarch, as his younger brother, Micah, 22, tells him in another clip: “If I got married, I’d hate for my marriage to look like this .”

In the midst of Ethan and Olivia’s marital problems, Barry and Kim Plath seem to be at odds with their own relationship as Kim looks for new love with her boyfriend, Ken.

“I was in a marriage where I wasn’t happy for a long time, and now I got out of it and met someone who really makes me happy — I think that’s long gone,” she says in front of the cameras.

Barry, on the other hand, notes that maybe on the outside “it looks like I’m dealing with things moving forward,” but admits he harbors some resentment toward his ex-wife. When the producer asks if he’s met her new man, he refuses to comment and asks to move on to the “next question.”

Eventually, Ethan tries to escape his problems with Olivia by visiting Micah in Malibu, California — but his problems seem to catch up with him when younger sister Moriah Plath, 21, arrives on the scene. The two haven’t spoken in months.

“I just came to see everything and if he wants to talk, then I want to talk,” she said to the cameras after the boys helped her with her bags when she arrived at the Malibu home.

Ethan adds: “I was looking forward to getting away from some of my problems. And now I have to deal with the problems I have with Moriah.”

The brothers and sisters finally got close again and talked frankly during the hike. When they reach the trailhead, Moriah refers to Olivia, claiming, “She dragged you away from everyone.”

Back in Minnesota, Olivia opens up to a friend about her breakup with Ethan. “He wants kids,” the wedding photographer says of their family plans. “But no – not with me. She doesn’t want a child who thinks what I think.”

“I’m not tolerant of some of the beliefs you have, and you’re not tolerant of some of the beliefs I have,” Ethan says in their shared confessional as Oliva sits with her arms folded and shakes her head.

Towards the end of the teaser, Olivia is asked whether or not she regrets “marrying him,” as Ethan tells the cameras, “Agreeing to agree — that’s a recipe for a miserable life. I don’t want that.”

Things seem to have reached a tipping point when Ethan finally emerges from his shared confessional with Olivia and ends the segment exclaiming, “I’m done. I am done.”
