Wendi McLendon-Covey had a hilarious experience on the set of her new TV show St. Denis Medical.The actress, 55, who stars in the new NBC sitcom, tells PEOPLE that she and the cast couldn’t stop laughing while filming a scene where McLendon-Covey’s character, Joyce, has to get a mammogram. “You know how you do it when you’re not supposed to laugh, and then you laugh and you can’t stop?” McLendon-Covey says. “That was my character [who] she just couldn’t keep the top down. She was so free and felt so amazing when she put this mammogram in front of the camera.” “And mammography examinations are not fun,” adds the actress. “You actually feel like your breasts are in a guillotine. And my character, she has one tit stuck in the machine, and with the other she’s trying to press the pedal to raise the machine. It was chaotic and silly and I couldn’t stop laughing.”St. Denis MedicalThe workplace mockumentary, created by Eric Ledgin and Justin Spitzer, follows the staff of a fictional hospital in Oregon, St. Denis Medical. McLendon-Covey says the mammogram scene was especially educational for some cast and crew members.

“Guys don’t know what this is,” says McLendon-Covey. “I mean, you show them the machine and they’re like, ‘What?'”
