Wheel of Fortune Contestant Surprises Pat Sajak with NSFW Answer: 'I Was a Little Excited'

Things get a little NSFW on Wheel of Fortune!

During Thursday, May 23’s episode, a contestant named Tavaris gave the audience laughs with his guess of the “Phrase” category — and left host Pat Sajak, 77, just as surprised in a video shared on X (formerly known as Twitter).

The contestants had to solve the puzzle and fill in the following missing letters, “_ _ _ _ I_ T_E B_ _T!”

“Right in the butt?” Tavaris from Port St. Lucie in Florida guessed, seemingly oblivious to the fact that “right” has five letters, not four.

While the audience and his colleagues laughed, Sajak simply answered: “No”.

Contestant Blake then revealed that the correct answer was, “This is the best!” winning $1000.

“Yes, that’s it, I think! A much better answer,” Sajak replied, adding, “How’s Tavaris? You’ve already made an impression on us.”

“I’m sorry, but I was a little excited,” the contestant replied, and Sajak said, “We’ll figure out how to handle it tastefully. I have no idea what it will be, but . . .”

Last June, Sajak revealed on Xu that he was ending his decades-long job as host of the program, which began back in 1981.

“There, the time has come. I have decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last,” he wrote at the time. “It’s been a wonderful ride and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Thank you all so much. (If nothing else, it’ll take over the clickbait websites!)”

Following his announcement, Suzanne Prete, executive vice president of game shows at Sony Pictures Television, told PEOPLE that Sajak will remain with the show as a consultant for the next three years. Ryan Seacrest is set to take over as host after Sajak leaves.
