Kasean was born in Chicago, Illinois and graduated from Ann Arbor Pioneer High School. Kasean was a two-year letterwinner in Ann Arbor, averaging 15 points and nine rebounds his senior season. He was also selected to the All-State Red List and the All-Southeastern Conference First Team. The forward was named to the Ann Arbor Area Dream Team second team after averaging 14 points and nine rebounds in his junior season. Kasean played two seasons at Boise State after graduating from Ann Arbor.
