Who Is Anne Burrell's Husband? All About Stuart Claxton

Anne Burrell is best known for her skills in the kitchen, but she has also managed a happy family life with her husband, Stuart Claxton.

“I don’t know if we were both thinking about marriage, but we were both like, ‘Oh, yeah, this is something,'” she told PEOPLE. “This is really going to be real and this is going to turn into something.” ”

Burrell continued: “Once you’re a 50-year-old woman, you don’t think marriage is going to be on your plate. I’ve always been focused on my career and marriage was never a big deal in the world that I was looking for. Then when I met Stuart , my opinion about all that has changed.”

Little is known about Claxton’s teenage son Javier, who he had from a previous marriage, but he has made several appearances on Burrell’s Instagram over the years.

Javier joined Burrell and Claxton at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup T20 in June and posed for a selfie with the pair.

Claxton popped the question to Burrell in April 2020 in her hometown of Cazenovia, NY, where the two were self-isolating during the COVID-19 pandemic with her family at the time.

“My mom and Stuart got together and made a plan where he and I would have a date night,” Burrell recalled to PEOPLE. “She set up a beautiful table in her apartment and we had just planned a dinner for the two of us. We were having a great time and then Stuart started saying, ‘Oh, this is a good song to put on our wedding reception playlist.’ And I say, ‘Okay, sure, but why are we talking about it now?’ ”

“We started talking about family and how nice it was to be here with everyone, so I started to cry a little bit,” she added. “Then Stuart pulled the ring out of his pants pocket and I was like, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe this is even happening.’ ”

Claxton said he had already started planning how to propose to Burrell before the COVID-19 pandemic. “I got the ring before we left for Cazenovia [over a month and a half ago]when we didn’t really know how long things would last. But I’m very glad I did,” he said.

“I think there are some positives coming out of this whole situation,” Burrell added. “If that wasn’t happening, we wouldn’t be here with my family and they wouldn’t be involved the way they are.”

Claxton attended Swansea University, graduating in 1993 with a BA in Spanish and Philosophy. Then, in 2008, he earned a master’s degree in media management from the University of Stirling, according to his LinkedIn profile.

His career took him from working for Guinness World Records, where he remained for nearly 13 years, to working at TIME in corporate marketing and client solutions, as well as in ad sales marketing at Univision. He started working for NextUp in January 2023 as their Vice President of Marketing and Communications.

After a year and a half of marriage, Burrell had nothing but positive things to say to PEOPLE, including how much she enjoys Claxton working long distance.

“I have to say I love being married. We’re together all the time because Stuart works from home. It’s important to be together all the time, but it’s also an adventure together,” she said.

The couple said “I do” on October 16, 2021 in a fall ceremony at Windridge Estates Redbarn 20 in the bride’s hometown of Cazenovia.

The Food Network star arrived at the ceremony via horse and carriage, where she met her four bridesmaids standing at the altar. Claxton’s son Javier served as his father’s best man.

“I don’t care about the cheese factor. Every time I mention the horse and carriage, Stuart gets a little laugh,” Burrell told PEOPLE before the wedding. “And I say, ‘Okay, whatever. This is my moment and I want to have it.’ ”

Burrell wore a Carolina Herrera wedding dress for the occasion, which was also the first dress she tried on. “I’ve always loved Carolina Herrera because I feel she knows how to dress real women,” she explained. “You don’t have to be a figure, which I’m obviously not, but you still feel beautiful and dreamy.”

The groom wore a black Ralph Lauren Purple Label tuxedo and orange Nike high-tops, and the bridesmaids wore burnt orange “classic fifties formal dresses” with A-line, hem-length skirts.

Guests dined on a seasonal menu including Roasted Cauliflower Steak with Cauliflower Puree, Goat Cheese and Pumpkin Ravioli in Sage Butter Sauce and Braised Ribs with Celery Root and Parsnip Purée.

Wedding planner Megan Hiltbrand of MLH Events helped bring Burrell’s vision to life, which included fall tables decorated with vegetables, herbs and colorful leaves.
